Enrichment Activities

Throughout the school year the Apshawa PTA helps sponsorship many activities that serve to enrich our children’s learning experience!  Among these activities are clubs such as tudent Council, Fitness Club and TREP$.  The PTA also helps sponsor, plan and organize school assemblies that focus on particular subject matters such as bullying, health and drug awareness.

Back by popular demand, Las Vegas magician Christian Augustine presents Math Magic. Christian’s goal is to show your students that there is much more to math than they originally thought. In his show all the magic your students will see pertains to math. Christian will even give your students some clues as to how the math makes some of the tricks work.

Magic tricks will include:

  • Human Calculator
  • Floating Table
  • Invisible Deck
  • The Power of 9
  • There’s Always 10

scientistMarch 15, 2017 – Dancing Scientist 

“So You Think You Can Do Science” is a 50 minute high-energy chemistry demonstration show that is designed as a school program. The performance is very entertaining, but the goal is 100% educational. The show is full of oozing, flying, fizzing, and color changing science. The experiments are set to music and 25% of the experiments are done while dancing. The educational topics discussed include acids & bases, energy, polymers, alternative fuels, catalysts, light, and careers in science. The show is complete with volunteers, upbeat music, competitions, and occasional jaw-dropping dance moves.

April Vollm is a Las Vegas based Physical Comedic Performer who has traveled the world entertaining audiences ranging from a classroom of 10 students to an arena full of 10,000 Families. She has shared her love of laughter and the stage with audiences from around the country and in over 15 countries around the world. From acting, singing, and dancing to magic, clowning, and aerial arts, you name it she probably has it in her bag of tricks and she cannot wait to JUMP at the chance to share some of her acquired skills and talents with your school! April’s Show Features

Joe Odhiambo is one of the best school assembly programs that you will find anywhere. His programs are unique because Joe Odhiambo does not just tell his audience that they will succeed if they work hard, he shows them through physical examples.

  • NBA All-Star Performer (2006, 07, 08, 09, 10)
  • Former Phoenix Suns and Mercury Performer
  • World’s Greatest Basketball Dribbler (12-time Guinness World Record Holder)

Joe “the trick-star” Odhiambo is originally from Kenya in East Africa. His humble upbringing taught him the drive and work ethic which has allowed him to become the best in his class. Odhiambo now communicates these tough life lessons and experiences to his audience. He strongly believes that even though we start the race in different places, at the end of the day, what you put in is what you will get back.

Joe shows the students that all people can succeed in life through five attributes Joe believes in:

  • Faith in Yourself: Believing in one’s ability regardless of what others say.
  • Persistence: Ability to endure hardship, keep working hard until you attain your goals.
  • Patience: Working long hard hours because you understand what it takes to succeed through practice.
  • Working Hard. Understanding that there is no short-cut to anywhere worth going.
  • Responsibility: Follow through with what needs to be done to get the job done.
